We sure know a lot of people who don’t need a thing for Christmas and they are often the hardest to buy for. We shop and shop trying to find just the right thing. Wonder how many of those gifts get re-gifted or eventually given to charity? At pgova.com you can give a gift that keeps on giving. It feeds, clothes, and helps repair homes of people in need right here where you live! Talk about keeping it local. If you decide to make a donation in memory or honor of someone special this Christmas, we will be happy to print a certificate that you can present in lieu of a gift. Just make your donation and then contact Melanie @ (757) 810-4337 .
Proclaiming Grace Outreach wants to wish everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving. We have tried hard at the Thrift Spot to include Thanksgiving items right up until the holiday as so often it tends to be bypassed by Christmas. While Christmas is important…we invite you to pause this week with us and reflect on all the many blessings we really do have. So often we think our house is a mess, but at least we have one. We comment on how out of style our clothes may be but at least we have them to stay warm. We comment on how gray our hair is getting but at least it has not been lost due to chemo. We wish we had something “good” to eat in the pantry, but at least we have food. We invite you to join in the attitude of gratitude. And for those who do have these dire situations, we want to do everything we can to help either through Proclaiming Grace Outreach or by connecting you with the right organizations. Happy Thanksgiving!
Wow, thank you customers! Saturday was a wonderful and very busy day at the Thrift Spot. Not only were sales good but we were able to collect more donations that are going toward the Make A Wish Foundation in memory of Jacob Vick. We have two more Saturday opportunities for you to be a part of making a new Christmas memory for the Vick family during what is certain to be a tough time. Many people are doing their shopping at thrift stores this year. That was evident on Saturday as people were piling up items. They just couldn’t resist the great deals. Join us this coming Saturday. Don’t forget that Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joining us on December 21. See you there!
“At this special time of year in which we remember the many ways in which God has blessed us, we at PGO would like to wish each of our volunteers and clients a warm and Happy Thanksgiving. We have had a terrific year as we have served our community and we are grateful.”
There is a growing need within our community that became obvious today. Through September of this year we averaged 50 families coming to our pantry. In September, the number was in the upper 60’s. Today, 96 families (283 people) came to our pantry to receive food. It was our Thanksgiving Day giveaway and everyone received either a turkey or a whole chicken, plus all of the Thanksgiving trimmings. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and all who worked hard to make this possible. God has given PGO a way to help our community and we are certainly grateful to Him.
