The number of folks coming to receive food from our pantry continues to be up. We have had some new folks with special needs. Today, 11 volunteers provided food for 65 families, two of which were new to the pantry. We are pleased to have been able to serve 176 people today. With laughter and joy we responded to God’s call to serve our fellow man and had a real good time.
Having grown up in Barhamsville and lived here most of my life, I amazed by the things that are now happening locally. Proclaiming Grace Outreach is all about partnering with other non-profits, civic groups, churches, and local businesses as well as every day ordinary residents just trying to make a go of it in life. Today I had the pleasure of visiting Auctions by Wallace’s warehouse just behind the storage units and sound shop in Barhamsville. Some of you may know that they have been having weekly estate auctions on Thursdays. This week they will be having a gun and coin auction. However, they will also be auctioning off lots of other goodies as well at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. It’s pretty exciting to have this going on so close by. Another awesome thing occurring this weekend is the grand opening of both Pumpkinville (Toano) and Holly Fork Pumpkin Patch (Barhamsville). Each offer homegrown pumpkins, gourds and lots of other unique items for your fall decorating needs as well as will be having all kinds of fun events for families. Check them both out on Facebook. Of course the place to be for all the other good Halloween/Fall deals this weekend is The Thrift Spot. Hope to see you there Saturday 8 to 4!
Everyday is a great day at The Thrift Spot! Even for the volunteers it is so exciting to see what we have been given each week. It’s what makes the shopping experience so exciting for our customers. We have so many regulars that come every single week because they do not want to miss what’s new. Currently we have lots of Halloween décor as well as costumes for both children and adults. Just this week we received some very nice jewelry and it would make awesome Christmas gifts. Less than 100 days away you know! We are open each Saturday of the year from 8 to 4 (with the exception of the Saturday after Christmas and the first Saturday in August). Hope to see you this Saturday.
Today was an exceptional day for our food pantry. Over 15 volunteers provided food for 70 families. Six of these families came to the pantry for the first time today. The need in our community continues to grow. We are pleased to have
provide food for 196 people.
We had an excellent day at the pantry serving 52 families or 148 people. We had plenty of volunteers and food and, in addition, $55 was donated to PGO. Also, we gave away 540 pounds of additional food donated by Wythe Distributing.
It was a great day,
