Girls Scouts of Stonehouse deserve a round of applause!

Update regarding those wonderful Girl Scouts from Stone House that donated over 2000 pounds of food to the Proclaiming Grace Outreach food pantry. These are the troops that deserve the thanks…GS Daisy Troops 1347 and 1409, GS Brownie Troops 1382 and 1554, GS Junior Troop 4117, and GS Cadette Troop 1538. These girls are to be applauded! Thanks girls and parents! What a difference you are making in your community.

February 2014 off to a great start!

February has started off in a super way for PGO! First, the Thrift Spot had an
exceptional day with more volunteers than normal (in addition to our wonderful regular ladies, this includes boys and men of all ages giving a few hours of their time to help with the setup and take down). Our first service project of 2014 was completed today and the Girl Scout troops of Stone House brought 244 bags of food to our pantry. That’s 2271 pounds of food! The blessings continue to flow.

In honor of Jacob Vick Fundraiser

This coming Saturday is the last week of The Thrift Spot’s donations being given to the Make A Wish Foundation in memory of Jacob Vick. Stop by for all of our great deals and drop a dollar in the donation box. It will go a long ways to make a child’s wish come true for Christmas.

“Jacob Vick is and always will be an inspiration to everyone he came in contact with. He touched the lives of many, and now it is time for us to give back in his honor. In lieu of the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, this fundraiser is to give his family hope that we haven’t and never will forget Jacob, his presence will always be with us.

We don’t have a goal, we’re just trying to raise as much money as possible. Donations will be accepted until December 15th and then something will be put together for the Vick family for Christmas to let them know how much was raised.” For more info or to donate online visit – http://friends.wish.org/100-000/page/Robyn-Ladd/In-Honor-of-Jacob-Vick.htm

It’s the perfect Christmas gift!

We sure know a lot of people who don’t need a thing for Christmas and they are often the hardest to buy for. We shop and shop trying to find just the right thing. Wonder how many of those gifts get re-gifted or eventually given to charity? At pgova.com you can give a gift that keeps on giving. It feeds, clothes, and helps repair homes of people in need right here where you live! Talk about keeping it local. If you decide to make a donation in memory or honor of someone special this Christmas, we will be happy to print a certificate that you can present in lieu of a gift. Just make your donation and then contact Melanie @ (757) 810-4337 .

Thanksgiving Week

Proclaiming Grace Outreach wants to wish everyone a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving.  We have tried hard at the Thrift Spot to include Thanksgiving items right up until the holiday as so often it tends to be bypassed by Christmas.  While Christmas is important…we invite you to pause this week with us and reflect on all the many blessings we really do have.  So often we think our house is a mess, but at least we have one.  We comment on how out of style our clothes may be but at least we have them to stay warm.  We comment on how gray our hair is getting but at least it has not been lost due to chemo.  We wish we had something “good” to eat in the pantry, but at least we have food.  We invite you to join in the attitude of gratitude.  And for those who do have these dire situations, we want to do everything we can to help either through Proclaiming Grace Outreach or by connecting you with the right organizations.  Happy Thanksgiving!
